Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
PSCi has been in business for over 10 years with experience electric power distribution systems and engineering design, panning and study analysis.
What is your primary product or service?
Our primary service includes short circuit and coordination studies, equipment evaluation, arc flash hazard studies, power factor correction and harmonic analysis using SKM Power Tools for Windows Software, and low resistance grounding design and installation. We now provide Cable Ampacity and Temperature Calculations to de-rate cables ampacity ratings in underground raceways.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
James Montgomery, currently serves as Vice President of Engineering and has over 20 years of experience in the design and planning of electric utilities, underground distribution networks, and electrical engineering study analysis including short circuit and coordination studies, equipment evaluation, arc flash hazard studies, power factor correction and harmonic analysis using SKM Power Tools for Windows Software and low resistance grounding construction installation. An interest to assist consultants and contractors to install new and renovated electric services for industrial and commercial facilities, led to also providing power monitoring, power quality and grounding solutions. Upon gaining experience in power system studies and as a field engineer, PSCi was formed to offer these services to electrical contractors, engineering consultants, and facility managers.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
PSCI uses the latest SKM Power Tools for Windows Software, with customized "data blocks" that allow for a variety of drawing presentations and sorted data tables. Our customized study reports include as found and recommends settings for protective devices with TCC Curve comments to explain the system deficiencies and recommend protection and coordination improvements, including replacements for overdutied equipment. We develop case scenarios to compare the fault duties for various modes of operation and to determine the worst case Arc Flash Category Levels, PPE and Clothing requirements per NFPA70E. The results are used to print the line & load side Arc Flash Labels for the equipment, and to mitigate high incident energy levels when possible.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We provide professional services in the State of Texas and other locations though out the United States. Through our client partners we provide professional service in Georgia, Maryland Michigan, and South Carolina.

What type of payments do you accept?
In most cases PSCi will provide a written response to your RFQ within 24 Hrs. Upon the receipt of a valid PO or signed agreement for engineering services, an invoice is issued upon completion of smaller studies and in the form of progressive billing for large studies, with payments received by check, through direct deposit, or electronically, and due net 30 days upon the receipt of the deliverables.
Which areas do you service?
PSCI provides Power System Studies throughout the State of Texas and other parts of the United States. We provide professional services to engineering consultants, electrical contractors, facility and property managers, and directly to commercial businesses, data centers and mission critical facilities.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Power Study Consultants is a Texas Corporation. The daily operations are overseen by James Montgomery, Professional Engineer of Registration and VP.
What are your hours of operation?
